Hello,
I'm hoping that someone will reply to this, and the post won't sit there unanswered, as is sometimes the case
I was recently given a Samsung NC10 Netbook (1.6GHz, 1GB RAM), completely new..running on XP Home Edition SP3
It works perfectly besides one little glitch.
There's an Fn key, which is associated with certain keys on the keyboard, so that I can, for example, turn up and down the volume, or have a number pad, without extra keys, which would make the keyboard larger.
Now, for some reason, the function of the Fn key has been switched around..
Whenever I don't press the key, I get the numbers I'm meant to get when I
am pressing it
And vice versa. Which is quite annoying as I always have to type while pressing an extra key.
Without pressing the Fn key, it would look like this:
ty*5ng w5th64t Fn
which reads:
typing without Fn
The odd thing is, all keys like volume up and down, mute, sleep mode etc (the function and navigation keys) work just like they should, but the others are switched..
It can't be the keyboard itself because, when I'm on the login page (I use the classical login, where one has to enter username and password), it types perfectly normally..only when I'm in an account (any account, including completely new ones) is it switched.
I'm guessing it has something to do with this Fn key though, as an external USB keyboard, without Fn key, works perfectly normally..
I don't believe it was there in the very beginning, as I remember typing normally on this computer before.
I'd only had and used the netbook for a few hours before this happened, and I hadn't done any serious typing yet, only basic setup things.
I have absolutely no idea how this happened, but maybe someone can help.
Hoping for a reply
El
