any one think there is some connection between errors and the fact that all the use to be seperate chip sets are now all on the motherboard?

as in sound and video errors. which make more heat when on the mb. that it can not get rid of.
unlike when they were seperate cards and had fans on the cards, everything seem to run cooler on the old systems.

but most the new systems come with this on board stuff but only one cooler and that is on the cpu. some boards have a cooler on the south bridge but not all . and that extra cooler does not seem to be enough.

shouldn't there infact be a cooler just for the mother board it's self to help with the extra heat that the sound and video chips now add to it.?

Hello,

I cannot say that I have noticed an increase in errors related to device integration. If anything, I would think that having integrated components would lead to a decrease in errors because it reduced the component count, consumed less electricity and radiated less waste heat.

Nope.

well the old ones of heat realted causes are showing more. the one for overheated video chip on my other computer that i replaced the motherboard in is the major one since it caused the mb to go bad.

i can only blame it on what i know happned. the video was on all the time on the monitor and in 3 months the mb had blown because of overheating and before that it was showing signs of heat caused mouse sticking when dragged across the screen, which i know is caused by heat from previous cpu's getting hot by bad cooling fans. and extra heat from bad sound cards.
so i can only presume that the heat from the video chip caused the cap's on the board around it to blow.

the cooling fan on the cpu was good and the cpu was an intell pent. so it does not run hot like amd's.

the heat had to come from the video chip.
but the only other heat sink is on the southbridge but no fan on it.

the new one from gigbyte does have an extra one for the south bridge, so there are known heat issues from other chips. i am wondering if they did not know about the video chip causing heat when it was left running all the time. but that too comes under suspect when you consider they make the power settings all have the monitor shut off, in order to leave it on all the time you have to make your own setting for always on.

so they must know it will cause heat. so why not add the cooling fan on the chip like they do on the all the big ati and nvidia video boards.?

Confused

For motherboards that don't have cooling provisions that I want, I use Thermaltake's "Blue Orb" coolers. It comes with mounting holes (and clips), if the mobo has matching holes - or you can just glue it on top of whatever chipset it is needed on. It comes with all needed power connectors.
