I use 2 different remote access software, which allows me to access my customer's PC's and fix them remotely.

The first one I use is ANYPLACE Control. I like it, but it can be a pain to setup sometimes, and it doesnt always work with my customer's network configuration and is often hard to explain to them how to configure things.

The other program I recently discovered is called LogMeIN, which works wonderfully. It was a bit confusing at first to set it up, but not that difficult. It works through their website and lets me do everything the Anyplace program does. There are a few things it doesnt do, like let me see 3D applications like the Anyplace program does.

Another reason I like Anyplace is, as long as they have the host module running, I can access their pc as long as its on... but with LogMeIn, they have to send an invitation to me for me to access their pc, which isnt that bad, but sometimes my customer may want me to fix their pc at a certain time (like when they are asleep), and the Anyplace would be better for that.

I was just wondering... is there a no frills remote access program that will let me see and access their PC like if it was right here next to me? Preferably low cost or maybe even free?

Thanks!

PS - I've tried window's built in remote access and never ever did get it working, no matter what settings I tried.

Pyscho,
How did you have them install LogMeIn? I use it at work to fix remote users' PCs. I am assuming you have an account set up at LogMeIn. If the remote user goes to the logmein website and logs in to your account, he can click on add computer, pick free and install the software on his PC. Then as long as the PC is on you can log into it ( assuming you know a username/password to an account on the PC. If you don't want to give the user access to your account, you can log into your account, click add computer, download and save the software which is linked to your account and email it to the user. The only thing is it is 9.5mb and some people cannot send/receive large emails, but there are ways around that. I have noticed some quirks with logmein, but for free I think it is a good program. I think I will give Anyplace a try now.

Hello,

Have you looked into using VNC, or one of its derivatives, such as TinyVNC or UltraVNC?
