Hi I'm looking to buy a budget laptop and need to get the most CPU power for my cash as I'm using it for music projects. Hoping you can shed some light on laptop i5 chips..

This is a real cheap i5 laptop but I am wondering if its any good - the i5 chip it comes with is listed as '2-core, 4 threads'.
Acer Aspire AS5742-483G32Mnkk ( LX.R4F02.259 )

(I have to have >100 posts? )

Is this as good as 4-core? Do laptop i5's actually come with 4 cores?

Hello,

From the specs on Acer's web site it looks decent. The specs for the Intel i5-480M CPU can be found here on Intel's web site. As far as I know, Intel only makes dual-core versions of the i5 mobile processors. The quad core ones are all desktop CPUs.
