Post subject: new hard drive instalation
I recently installed a new hard drive on my notebooke sony pcg-z1wa,but when I turned it on it's still shows me same message that i have to replace my hard drive imidiatly or press F1.

I did press F1 and everything is working fine fast good,but I like to take this message off,because it doesn't let me go to my notebook setting.plus there's too much noise coming from the hard drive.

Hello,

Did you verify the new hard disk drive is compatible with your SONY PCG-Z1WA notebook computer and that the new hard disk drive itself works properly? If you visit the hard disk drive manufacturer's web site you should be able to download a utility which allows you to test your new hard disk drive for errors.

Have you gone into the BIOS and checked to see if the new hard drive is listed correctly? Was this new pcg-z1wa hard drive a replacement from Sony with an operating system and drivers pre installed or did you format it and load an operating system on it?
Your BIOS may be looking for the old hard drive and thus giving you this message at start up.
Entering the BIOS varies on different mainboard manufacturers but usually it is by tapping the Delete key during first boot and sometimes it is one of the F buttons. If you go to Sony's website and search around you can find out how to enter the BIOS. Some Computers use F10.
As far as the noise issue, this usually indicates a physical problem but some brands and models of hard disk drives are louder than others. It is impossible to diagnose a sound in a forum.
