Ever since I upgraded to Windows7, I cannot get graphics on web pages. I get red Xs. In IE the "show pictures" is checked.

sounds like the ie is not told to show those formats of the images that don't show. what changed it i don't know but i get that on xp from time to time also try going to windows update and then to the frame in the left of the page you will see a link to microsoft updates click it and then run that one it will see if anything is out of wack on your computer. Very Happy

Hello,

Perhaps a broken association for something in Internet Explorer?

Try resetting Internet Explorer 8.0 by selecting Tools → Internet Options from the main menu bar, going to the Advanced tab and clicking on the Reset button towards the bottom of the window to restore the web browser to the default settings.

Regards,

I just went through the same thing after upgrading to a new video card. It got fixed when I went into "personalize" and checked the windows 7 Aero theme button.

Probably checking any button would have worked. ♦

I just use Mozilla Firefox, and NEVER I.E. and I don't have that kind of problems, even on win-7.

Good add-ons to Firefox are Adobe "Shockwave Player" and Adobe "Flash Player".

"I.E. Tab" is another good add-on for Firefox, so you can jump into I.E. mode without ever leaving Firefox, and with just one click of the mouse.

Firefox is a great browser, but is made even better with these few add-ons.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Interestingly, the problem of no picture display, and that means, no buttons, or anything else saved as an image file showed up in either IE or Firefox. I ruled out the possibility that my web host was having problems by accessing the site from a different computer and it looked normal. I also noticed some anomalies in how Win 7 looked. So, I moused around in Win7 personalize and found the answer. For me, anyway.

This is called the "Age of enlightenment" in which we are all supposed to be Enlightened.
Enlightenment means not doing the same old tired things and expecting different results.

Internet Explorer has been seriously flawed ever since Windows 95.
Most MS updates since then have been futile attempts to fix it.
So far, most attempts to FIX IT have been an exercise in futility.
(it still ain't fixed!)

For years we used Netscape, "to go where no other browser had gone before".
But it was bloated and somewhat clunky.
Then came the open source, "Firefox" built upon the old Netscape core.
But Firefox is much more streamlined and efficient than Netscape ever thought of being.

I've been using Firefox since the earliest BETA days and I was so glad to have a browser that really worked, for a change.

Happy Holidays!
