Hello, everyone!
I've searched the site to see if anyone had the same problem as me. I have yet to find what I was looking for, so I have decided to ask.
I've installed my Sims 2 game before on my computer around two years ago, but about a year later our computer crashed and everything was deleted. I have not installed my Sims 2 game since then. I've tried, but I've been getting a message when I installed the game. I gave up after a while (six months to a year) and our computer was restarted again from another virus. Now, the message that appears is:
"Uninstalls the CD key has encounted a problem and needs to close to close. We are sorry for the inconvienence."
I do not know what to do, any ideas?
Thank you. |

| It appears lots of people are having the same problem with Pets, have you tried installing the Nightlife patch before installing Pets?

Ok so I've read , skimmed*, through the previous thread archive and this one as well and thought Id take a stab at asking for some assistance.
For a while I had the Sims 2 and it worked fine with no issues, after a month or so of play I uninstalled it and didn't touch it for a good year , year and half.
Recently I bought and installed every expansion pack except for Pets.
The first Error I got was the" Failed to enumerate any DirectX 9 compatible graphics adapters in this system " and this was while trying to run Bon Voyage .
So I followed the basic advisory instructions ; updated my graphics drivers , installed EVERY patch I could find for the game, and then reinstalled the game and the patches. I did have a small issue when I went to reinstall direct x , it asks where to redistribute the DirectX files and I really wasn't sure if they were meant for a specific folder. So I made one for them and ran the setup and assumed that it had updated sufficiently. Anyway after around 30 minutes of troubleshooting I noticed an increasing trend of people that commented their problems were fixed by uninstalling bon voyage and reverting to the previous expansion ; Seasons.
I uninstalled Bon Voyage, popped in seasons and Bam, no direct x error, honestly I don't know why. Anyway, up comes the Maxis Logo, and then I get to the nice little intro video and as soon as it finishes I get the Red X.
I tried looking up the crash log as you suggested but I couldnt find anything listed.
Also I noticed you recommended updating Motherboard Drivers but I was unable to find a driver for my motherboard
Right now I'm running an (Upgraded) T6212 Emachines , motherboard Model MS-7093 (Like this helps)
With an ATI RS48X ICP chipset
I'm running a Radeon X700 Pro Graphics card with updated drivers (To my knowledge the Sims 2 should be well within its capabilities)
1.5 Gigs of DDR
Plenty of Virtual Memory
If you think I can fix the Bon Voyage problem that would be excellent but otherwise I'm perfectly happy settling for getting Seasons to work.
If you have any questions please ask and thank you very much for your time, I rarely ask for help troubleshooting but your posts that I've read are inspiring. |

Hi! I'm new here but this is not a new problem. Ever since I installed The Sims 2, it has had problems running smoothly. It lags and eventually crashed. To be honest, I don't remember the original error message. Something about my graphics driver. Now it has crashed and when I try to reopen it, it says: The application has crashed. The Sims 2 will now terminate.
Here are the specs of my comp:
Operating System: Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
System Model: Gateway M280E 3402150
Processor a:
1.73 gigahertz Intel Pentium M
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Main Circuit Board b:
Board: Gateway 62.04
Bus Clock: 533 megahertz
BIOS: Gateway 62.04 10/19/2005
Drives: 330.08 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
297.83 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space
Display: Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family [Display adapter] (2x)
I don't know how much of this you need, or if I've left anything out. This is some of what the Belarc Advisor told me. |

Hello allykat452 and welcome to Lockergnome!
First thing to do would be to reinstall the game. The next thing to do would be to update your graphics card drivers. |

| I already reloaded the game. How do I update my graphics card drivers? I think I've already done that, if it involves going to the manufacturer's website and checking for updates... |

Ok, read through a little bit here and it seems like the right place to go for some help.
I have Sims 2, Nightlife and University, I installed them fine and ran no problems with healthy FPS and short loading times. Then, today, I attempted to run the game (Running off Nightlife) but the splashscreen appears and the game stops responding, I get nothing but the microsoft "do you want to send" screen.
Ok, I think a spec is in order just to clarify things
A basic dell DM051 pc, running Windows XP Media Edition, latest service packs. Radeon X300 SE 128MB HyperMemory,
1GB Ram,
Pentium 4, 3.0GHz (2 CPU) processer,
Enough hard drive space to install,
Lastest Direct X (9.0c)
I'll be in your debt if you can help me,
Daniel |

Hello! I just bought The Sims 2 Deluxe online download and I have installed it and everything. But after creating a family and clicking the "check" sign, it shows "Creating Lopez Family" with my family picture and the loading arrow/sand clock sign and there's still the background music playing.. It happened so many times so I thought maybe I should wait a little longer so I went to bed and when I woke up, it's still the same thing showing. Is it the software or do I need to upgrade my system? Here's the specs. Thanks!

Hello skyro and welcome to Lockergnome!
First thing I would try is patching the game or reinstalling Nightlife. |

If that's the case remove the new drivers and use the older ones. |

| But even with the old drivers, it still was not possible to play the game for any reasonable length of time without frustration and crashes. Is my computer just incompatible with the game? |

It could well be, i've never used a tablet PC like yours before so I can't be sure.
Maybe running it in windowed mode would help. Right click the shortcut to sims 2 > click properties > in the target field add -w to the end.
For example Target: "c:\games\sims2\sims2.exe" -w |
