I can't even count the number of times that I've solved just such a problem by installing a new mouse or keyboard. Or washing the ram.
So 'A Scanner' ? Not out of the realm of possiblility at all.
I had what I thought was a keyboard problems, because when I'd hit a certain key combination (BY Accident) my computer would go into shutdown mode and so fast that I couldn't even stop it.
After replacing the mouse and three keyboards it was still doing it.
A new motherboard solved the problem. So, ya jus never know.
