Hi Mike.....have you tried formatting it under Windows?
That would, of course, format it in NTFS mode. Is that what you want? Confused

On my computer, I could even format it in FAT-32 mode, with a DOS boot disk.

Cool

If you are looking to format a partition with a Linux file system such as ext2 or ext3, one GUI application you may feel comfortable with is Gparted. It is a great deal more than a partition formatter though. With it you can create, delete, resize and format partitions with a number of supported file systems including ext2, ext3, fat12, fat16, fat32, and (I believe) NTFS. I use Mandriva here, so I am unsure if Suse includes a partition manager. If it does, it may do more than Gparted.

I use a Linux System Rescue CD with GParted for all my formatting and partitioning needs.
