Without seeing the entire label or instruction pamphlet, I can only guess this is a grammatical error (a bad translation, if it was made in a foreign country?) and probably should have said something along this line,

"Not to be used for any other purpose than food preparation."

i was just wondering why that was like that.?

it was an old joke i got from one of the well known comedian's list of jokes they did. don't ask which one i went on a surf and copy trip to lots of their pages i don't remember which i got it from.

but the joke does indicates it was a Japanese appliance.

so your suggestion makes perfect sense.

i was just stuck on the same line of thought the guy in the joke was. Razz

Well, even when they're serious, some of the cautions on appliances get pretty ridiculous. Like a hairdryer. It actually says something like "Don't use in water".

I just installed 4 UPS's and there were stickers on them that read " DO NOT plug the device into itself or permanent damage may result"

Actually I thought that was a pretty reasonable one,
as people do all sorts of things in the bath.
