This is so strange, about every few days I have to un install Flash Player and then re install it to what is causing it to become unstable? I first saw it happening on our Road Runner home page, then on youtube, once I would uninstall and then re install everything come back just great-This is a bother- Anybody have this happen? Running xpMedia edition, plenty of memory and etc- Thanks

Allo sml18 Smile

Which browser are you using??? If you're using FireFox or any of the Mozilla browsers that use extensions/plugins, do you have 'NoScript' installed? If yes, you'll need to allow that particular site.

I had this problem last year. I found that my registry cleaner was marking three necessary Flash files for deletion. I first traced it down by looking at any Flash file extensions listed, and not deleting them. I could remove and add these three files, and control the Flash player. Re-installing over the Flash program didn't help, it had to be completely removed and THEN installed. To solve the problem, I changed registry cleaners!

What registry cleaner were you using so I know what to avoid?

I also was having the same problem as sml18, and like micker377, I also eventually traced the problem to necessary registry keys being deleted by the Reg Cleaner I was using.

I was and still am using RegCleanXP; all I did was add the keys that were associated with Flash to the 'Exclusions' list, and, knock on wood, I haven't had to reinstall Flash Player since then. Very Happy

Unfortunately, it was a while back and I don't remember. Now I use "Eusing Free" (eusing.com). It is free, quick and doesn't hurt anything. Even safer is "EasyCleaner 2" (ToniArts). Just don't use the "Duplicates" part.

I don't use ToniArts Easy Cleaner because I had a problem with that one.

How do I identify the flash keys to add them to the exclusion list of my software. I did present this problem to them, waiting for a reply.

sml18, add the following keys to your registry cleaner's exclusion list:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FlashFactory.FlashFactory
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FlashFactory.FlashFactory.1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FlashProp.FlashProp
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\FlashProp.FlashProp.1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\MacromediaFlashPaper.MacromediaFlashPaper
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.3
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.4
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.5
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.6
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.7
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.8
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.9

Since I added these keys to the Exclusions list in my copy of RegScrubXP, I have not had to reinstall Flash Player. Very Happy

Alternatively, you can search for the following CLSIDs:

{1171A62F-05D2-11D1-83FC-00A0C9089C5A}
and
{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}

Good luck!
