Hi folks,

I am trying to play the following url in Windows media player 11. http://www.nascar.com/multimedia/webcast/busch/index.html
It's a live feed from nascar.com.

It tells me "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found." How do I find which codecs are missing? Or is it not possible to play a live web cast through the media player?

On the website it says that "webcast requires windows media player version 9" I have 11, is that a problem or should it still work? I use Windows XP SP2.

Thanks for any help.

Download the standard package
http://www.codecguide.com/about_kl.htm

The other option is to download VLC, which includes all the current codecs but that might interfere with your WMP 11.

Try this site:

http://www.free-codecs.com/Codec_Packs.htm

There is a plethora of codecs waiting for you to download... Cool

Cheers!

From that site:

Quote:
This webcast is best viewed at a monitor resolution of 1024x768
WebCast requires Windows Media Player Version 9

Those are minimums.... and your Media Player should be sufficient.
If not, you'll need to download and install some more 'codecs'.

I use MP 10 and the K-Lite Codec pack. I watch pretty much everything I want to watch.
This is where I download K-Lite:

It's a biggie, so I hope you're not on a Dial Up ISP. Wink Laughing Laughing

EDIT: I just went to the site....then to the bottom of the page and downloaded the FULL version, at 13.5megs.

Good Luck,

It can be detrimental to your system to download codec ‘packs’. You really should not install codec’s you will never use. There can be conflicts. Far better to identify the codec you need and install that particular one. Take a look at http://forum.videohelp.com . They have a lot of good advice and many free tools.
