|
|
Lately, whenever I click a shortcut to open any web site, like this one, I get this error message. The site opens anyway, but leaves this error message on my screen till I click the "OK".
Error: image could not be loaded. Image is not available from server
Image URL: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g90/DrWho1943/Error1.jpg
Currently running Firefox, Beta 3.4
I'm using the same set of shortcuts that I've used for many months/years.
Any ideas?

Well, I sort-of solved my problem with Firefox.
I de-installed Firefox Beta 3 and reinstalled FF 2.0.0.13.
NO More error messages.
But now I'm wondering if anyone else was/is getting those error messages when running FF 3 ???
Just curious....

As I said, Reinstalling Firefox (older version 2.0.0.13) solved my immediate problem, but the fix on that site was exactly what I was looking for.
Maybe that will help someone else who was having the same or similar problem.
Thanks a Million $$$

| Yeah, I had some similar problems - as you, I just went back to 2.0. I didn't bother to try to figure it out. |

I usually find any problems with FF can be fixed by closing FF and deleting the cache and the XPC.mfl and XUL.mfl files in your profile manually. A corrupt file there can cause these and many other problems.
Just as an aside, if you, as I do, use your hosts file as a line of defence, it is worthy of note that changes in the hosts file are sometimes ignored by FF unless you clear the cache. FF checks its own cache first, and if a page has been visited and FF finds it in its cache, it doesn't check the hosts file.
(I think that's how it works. Certainly I have noticed changes to hosts ignored until the cache is cleared, so it seems a likely assumption.) |
