|
| Hello all!
I have created a Template in MS Word and switched on the save option: Embed Fonts. My fonts are all liscenced as embeddable. When I take the file to another computer, the fonts are all replaced. Can anybody help me here? Am I doing something wrong, or is there some option on the other computer that needs switching on too?
thanks! -Brother Gabriel

| If the fonts aren't installed on the other computer, windows does a replacement so the display will show the replaced font instead of the original.

Yes, I understand that normally another computer would need to have those fonts installed - which is why Microsoft added "embed fonts" options for their Word application.
The problem is that this "embed fonts" function is not working. I don't want to install the fonts; I want to embed them in the file.
Word shouldn't replace the fonts that are embedded! |

If you use word 2002 or newer, I found this explanation...
| Quote: |
from Simon Daniels of Microsoft
'Installable embedding' fonts are no longer 'installed' - they are
treated like fonts that are set to 'editable embedding'. Two reasons,
firstly because users don't like random fonts getting added to their
fonts folder. Secondly, for security reasons. Not installing embedded
fonts reduces the surface area for attacks."
Embedding the font can no longer be used as a means of
distribution. |
As far as why it isn't working in Word 2000, I'm clueless. Maybe someone else can help you. |

Okay! Well thanks anyways. I thought the idea of emedding fonts in a Word file was a great idea. Oh well. I suppose its back to the old copy and paste method of getting the fonts where you want them.
Thanks for your help, nonetheless.
God bless.
