Short of taking classes, what would be a good way to get a good grasp of Linux? - would like to take a college course but not sure if it will work out for me to do so (looking into it)

Are there any good books that I could further learn on my own? Or maybe a self course or informal online course. (reputable) - wanting to get a better grasp of the administration end of it.

Here are a few sites that may guide you in your quest to master Linux:

Tips for Linux Explorers (excellent site)

LinuxQuestions.org (another goody - has a help forum, wiki, tutorials and lots more)

Here are 3 good sites for command line tutorials:

MUO - Basics - Shell I

BASH Programming - Introduction HOW-TO

Advanced Bash-Scripting Guide

You should also join up with your distro's help forum (DistroWatch.com has details for most distros)

Another thing to look at is to check if there is a Linux User Group (LUG) in your area. They meet regularly and can be full of useful advice.

Thanks for the info - I'll check the sites when I have more time. BTW: some I already use.
The LUG I already checked - I think there is one about 60 miles away at the closest. A little far for the gas prices.

I primarily use fedora 7. Would there book(s) help? Any other books that would? - Have books on programming (script) not really interested in that end of things right now.
