Hi,
I REALLY NEED to make more room on my boot drive. Can I safely delete or back up to another partition which has more room, the uninstallers for the hotfixes in C > WINDOWS . Mine date back years and I could save a heap of space if these went. My understanding of them is theyre good to keep around for a while to make sure theres no probs but when you see theres no probs then they can go...

Your help appreciated. : ).

I don't just delete them I use a program to do it for me.
The one I usually use it available here:

http://www.wisecleaner.com/download.html

It will tell you what is safe to delete.

If you have more than one partition and need to make one bigger you can use a partition manager like Gparted.

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php

It is free open source software.

It has a GUI and is pretty easy to use but it is a really good idea to back up to some other media before you use it.

Those Windows Update UN-Install files are easily deleted from Windows Explorer.

When I am tuning up a PC and I go into Windows Explorer, to find what files and folders I can get rid of, I always clean out those old Un-Install files.
Like Temporary Internet Files, those things will build up forever, till someone comes along and cleans them OUT!

But that's just one place where you can gain some space by deleting things that are unnecessary.

If there are NO problems on the PC, you can also delete OLD restore points.
You can also empty the Prefetch and Recent folders.

In the Program Files folder, check for folders/files belonging to programs that have already been UN-Installed, in Add/Remove programs.
Un-Installing a program does not always delete all the files and folders associated with that program.

Good Luck,
