I do enjoy writing. Heck, I like to talk, given the chance.
But sometimes I fear I've gotten a bit carried away.
I noticed the other night that I now have 5 blogs. Granted, two of them almost don't count as blogs except in format, one being a humor blog and the other a hardware/software review blog. But that still leaves 3 blogs that beg for content. I've sort of solved the issue by assigning each one a specific purpose; one is for my thoughts, one is for my opinions and the last is about Lockergnome issues.
Does anyone else suffer from occasional blog-overload? What have you done to try to control the situation? Has anyone simply abandoned a blog, realizing that it's too much of a hassle to try to keep it going?
Just curious. |

Coming from an unpaid writing addict with one blog...I would say five is too many unless each blog has a specific purpose, or target audience, simply because even a highly addicted writer couldn't possibly (prove me wrong) provide enough reliably timed content to keep visitors interested in coming back regularly, or at least one that has a day job...
I had a "career" blog for a while with no hits because quite frankly it was boring and I wasn't doing anything that hadn't been done before. I deleted it.
I am not going to suggest in even the slightest of ways that my blog is great but my readers know I'm a paid computer geek. Sometimes they get useful tech info, sometimes they get views from the other side of the PC support gig, sometimes they get a good rant, sometimes they get what I made for dinner, either way they keep coming back because I rarely go a day without posting something (insert writing addict with nothing to hide and a million things on her mind).
I guess it depends on what you're after: I personally blog for me, because as a writer I HAVE to and I happen to have a few hundred people that come by to check on me everyday. |

Well, I have online forum overload, myself (I'm a member of four so far, not counting my Orkut communities). :)
I'm interested in multi-blogging, but I'm too lazy right now. I don't think three blogs is too much, IF one has plenty of things you want to talk about.
By the way, loved your Really Bad Computer Advice. Keep up the good work! |

Hello,
I am not familiar with writing for a blog, per se, but do write on a daily basis in my career (technical support) and do try answer my personal correspondence as well as postings here in a prompt fashion.
If one is going to write on a regular basis, then I think it is best to do it daily: Set aside a specific time or (times) for yourself everyday that you will write and perform writing-related tasks, such as research.
If you find you do not have time to update your creative outlets (blogs, bulletin boards, mailing lists and so forth) then I would suggest scaling back your activities to the one(s) you deem essential: I think it is better to produce less content and have it of a higher quality than it is to produce more mediocre content.
Regards,
