I came across this article in cnet news:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10105963-83.html?part=rss&subj=ne...amp;tag

and I confess it surprised me. I always thought that the "danger sites" were, well let's say........elsewhere.

interesting though that north american cyber crims are loosely aligned yet the northern/eastern european ones are "organised".

Several years ago when I ran the ZxxxAxxxx firewall, I'd occasionally set it up to alert me when a hack attack occurred. I was getting several per minute. I had to turn the alert OFF, because I couldn't get anything done, with the alert box popping up every few seconds. Twisted Evil

I used "Who-Is" to find out where the attacks were coming from. The highest percentage of them were coming from the Pacific Rim. (China, etc.)
However the #2 location was Southern California.

But speaking of Eastern Europe......when the USSR fell, the Russian Mafia sort of took over. They now control much of the industry, banking and of course the Malware industry.
They have more power than the Russian Government.

So if you don't want your 'Stuff' to become the property of the Russian Mafia, use the best protection software you can get your hands on.

Nice thread!

Happy Holidays!

It not hard to find the "internet underground", just go to places like {link removed} and {link removed}. Both of these are currently down as of 1/12/2009
