Hello,

If I go to web pages that have multiple flash sections my computer just crawls. I basically can't do much of anything. If I try to go between tabs it takes forever to open the next tab. The page I'm referring to is dellgoodnews.com of course there are others where I have the same problem.

I hope I'm making myself clear enough for you to understand what I'm talking about! I don't know what I can do to correct this problem.

I'm going crazy when this happens. Can someone help me to correct this or is it just my computer isn't good enough to handle all the flash pages?

Thank you

What browser are you using?

You don't need flash on - it will slow down a computer. If you use FF, it is easy to turn off and just turn it on site by site. In IE it isn't that easy.

How do I do that zlim? That would certainly help. Oh and I do use FF.

Thanks

Get the noscript add on
http://noscript.net/
Down on the taskbar in the right corner, you will see an S with a red line through it. That means things are off for the page you are on. If it doesn't work properly (like a UTube you want to see) right-click the S and you get options to permanently or temporarily turn things on.

Currently at Lockergnome I have a tiny red line which is telling me some things are on and some are off.
lockergnome.com is on
the following (on this page) are off:
wugnet.com, kontera.com, googlesyndication.com, and googleanalytics.com

The page looks fine, I just don't see all those google ads and if someone has something at wugnet or kontera, I might not see it.

If you get confused, there is a "master" choice - Temporarily allow all this page.

Thanks zlim, I actually have noscript . Trouble with the page I'm talking about is the whole thing seems to be flash so none of it would be visible if I did that.
I just don't understand why it's soooo slow when a page has multiple flash sections. Drives me crazy.

I have the same sort of problem on one of my older computers when trying to listen to a certain on-line radio station that uses an elaborate flash animation and knocks ten bells out of the processor - pretty well 100% all the time, even with the dedicated "mini-browser" that is available for it. (I did post about this previously to see if anyone had any answers to reducing Flash processor usage). Trouble is, if I block flash, I wouldn't be able to use it! Catch 22.
Regarding "ordinary" sites, I used to use NoScript but I found it a bit of a pain, as I found I was forever clicking on this, that and the other to allow things to happen. For straight-forward browsing in Firefox, I use Flashblock
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433
but, as you say, if the whole page is a mass of flash (really annoying) it rather defeats the object. As far as I can see, Flash does appear to cane system resources.

Hello,

Have you visited Adobe's web site to check if you have the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player software installed?
