i have a compaq sr1230nx it came with a 512mb ddr ram and i added another 512mb but then the motherboard kept beeping and according to the beep it was a ddr ram promblem so i took the newly installed 512mb ram out and turned it on but the motherboard is still beeping i even tried switching the slots and reseting cmos still no luck


someone please help me..

Did you take precautions to avoid a static electric discharge? If you didn't and your zapped it, you may have just killed your motherboard and or ram.

Check all of your connectors to the mobo as well and make sure everything is connected and seated properly. You may have loosen a connector while installing the RAM.

PS You didn't mention - have you tried installing the new stick by itself? Just another thought.

are the lights on the key baord flahsing to? becuase this happened to me once all i did was just pop the ram in a little better and it worked.
