Click what? The desktop icon for IE and FF?
What brand and model of mouse?
Have you tried another mouse?
What driver version is installed for your mouse?
Does this happen only while browsing or with everything?
How do you connect to the internet?

As you can see, there are lots of causes for a seemingly non-responsive mouse so a lot more information helps us narrow it down.

By the way, please edit your post to remove the HiJack log. No one in this section of the forum will read it. If someone wants to see it, they can find it in the Hijack log section of the forum.

I think Boggs may be having the same problem I've been noticing lately, though it is intermittent. When using either Chrome, IE or Firefox (so it doesn't seem to be a problem specific to the browser), a page will start to load then stop as if it's finished, but either little or no content is showing. The only way to get it to fully load is to hit the reload button one or more times. I'm running Windows xp pro sp2. I've reloaded my Asus Atheros AR8121PCI-E ethernet controller drivers to no avail. I'm using TimeWarner cable internet, so it's shouldn't be a broadband issue.

Is the mouse PS/2 or USB?
To find the driver, click on the mouse icon in Control Panel. Next click on the Hardware tab and at the bottom of that window, click on Properties. The box that will popup has a Driver tab. My PS/2 generic mouse is using a driver from 7/1/2001. Because you have a MS mice you might be using a newer driver.

How do you connect to the internet? Sometimes the DNS cache of your ISP isn't up to date. You can change the DNS to use Open DNS.
If you wish to change to test, make sure you write down your current DNS IPs so you can change back if this doesn't resolve the issue. The open DNS IPs are:
208.67.222.222
2.8.67.220.220

Instead of launching your browsers from the desktop icon, I want you to launch each in safe mode or no addons mode. To do this:
Start, then Programs then Internet Explorer. At this point you might have a choice for no addons. I'm not running IE 8 so I don't know what you see.
For FF. Start then Programs then Mozilla Firefox and last select Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). If it seems more responsive, it might be an addon problem.

cyberdave003, you really should be running SP3 on XP. It has been available since May 2008.

Also, we don't know what version either of you are running.
IE 8 has problems if the computer has SpyBot or SpywareBlaster installed because IE8 can not handle the large list of restricted sites and it appears to slow down, freeze or not load pages because of this.

WWEELLL, now.... Isn't that interesting. Who would have thunk it?

I guess that is why I pretty much gave up on I.E. at 6!!!

Glad you were able to find the problem - I was keeping tabs on your progress as I was interested as to just what it was. I didn't intervene as I couldn't add anything useful. zlim did an excellent job in helping you out.

Just for general public information:

I was working on a laptop today and I plugged in an external, USB, mouse, because I just can't use those little touch pads on the laptops.
They are way too slow for the work that I have to do.

I could not get anything to open or run when I double clicked on it. I was having to right click on a file and then click on "Open" to run it. Crying or Very sad

Well, I finally got my brain in gear and went to check the mouse settings. The double click speed was set to the very highest setting. Well, when I set it back down to about the 50% range, I could once again double click on a file and run it just fine.
Sometimes the simplest thing can be the solution to a really big problem.

Just a thought,
The Doctor Cool
