when i print a single label the printer wastes 1/2 an inch" as a quote set up", well my labels are only 1 inch by one inch. this 1/2 inch may not seem like a lot but my whole job consists of printing out these labels one at a timeat about 700 a day . at a price of around 12 cents a pop. these small pieces add up to wasting nearly 1/3rd of my printer tape. and the tape refills are around 15 bucks each

this seems to be a simple re programming solution or is there something that i can do to stop it.

Hello,

This seems to be part of the device's design as per the manufacturer.

Thanks for the reply.

I thought it was Crying or Very sad do you think that I can debug it with some program like cheat engine, find out where in the program it tells the printer to waste a "set up" strip and then remove it or stop it dead in its track. Or is there some other program that I can use to make and print these labels and just void the P-touch Editor all together?

Hello,

When I have had to print many labels on a P-Touch at the same time, I typed all the items in separated with three spaces for item and then printed them as one long strip. I then used a razor blade to cut them into individual pieces.

Of course, you can try contacting Brother support and see if they offer an alternative. I never had to print enough labels, though, that this was an issue for me.

OK i just figured it out simply change the setting to chain printing. the p-touch printer will hold on to the last sticker till you print another one. at that time it cuts and continues to print the next label. it is a slight inconvenience but considering the overall saving i think that i can deal with it . the price of printing these labels dropped from 15 cents each to 10.

You can always just print as the last label (the one that stays in the ptouch) something small like xxx. You'd be able to cut off the last label you really want and not wait for the next job to get the label.

Note: I'm still very low tech. Very Happy I use the hand held label creators with the plastic tape. I have three. I think I threw one out that wasn't working.
