Allo Shawnap

The BCCode didn't mean anything to Google either Wink. The one key thing you never mentioned is whether you're using WinXP or Vista??? The following applies to WinXP, I don't know whether it works with Vista or not.

To see what the 'Blue Screen of Death' (BSD) says, either right-click the 'My Computer' icon or, from the Start Menu - Settings - Control Panel - System, either will bring you to the same box.

When the box appears, click the 'Advanced' tab along the top, then near the bottom of the box is an area marked 'Startup and Recovery', click the 'Settings' button. Near the bottom of the next screen is an area called 'System Failure', untick the box marked 'Automatically Restart', then OK everything back to the desktop.

The next time your VAIO crashes, the BSD should remain onscreen, take note of the exact wording and error codes, then post that back here, those codes are a lot easier to diagnose Smile.

Yes, the pictures helps. It is an
IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error and the first string says it is an 0A error. That an be googled for causes and possible solutions.

Notice how it says to disable or remove any new installed hardware or software. So the next question will be what have you installed lately? (hardware and/or software)

From the eldergeek
Quote:
Stop 0x0000000A or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - The Stop 0xA message indicates that a kernel-mode process or driver attempted to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel interrupt request level (IRQL) that was too high. A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own. This Stop message is typically due to faulty or incompatible hardware or software.

Tip #3 mentions looking in the system log that will also give an idea as to what is acting up.
Unless you or someone you know can read a minidump, I'd forget about doing that.
