This issue appeared when i bought 8600 gts from pc company. I had Windows XP at that time. When i installed (actually some guy installed it) my new card i had display problems, suddenly black or colored lines appeared all over my screen, my pc began to freeze and i had the latest driver from the nvidia. In that time a also bought a new power supply but i replaced it again later. At first, i though why would this appear if i have the latest driver and i also thought i probably have broken hardware (maybe graphic card or something else, i dont know). Maybe when my friend upgraded my pc with new hardware, damaged something (motherboard or something else which might cause all this). Then i returned my pc to the company.

For the first time they said:
there is nothing wrong with your pc, every hardware part is working as it should

Then i bought 8800 gts (because i wanted a powerful graphic card) and the same problem is here again .I had windows vista when i bought 8800 gts and then i changed back to windows xp but problem is still the same. I forgot to mention that all my hardware had latest drivers installed, including BIOS version to make sure it supports new parts like core 2 duo cpu. Then i went back to the company and they replaced graphic card. This has not fixed my problem and i went back to the company again and then they replaced power supply with a better one. FFS (sorry for my bad language) no results. I still get black lines and some other display problems. Maybe it was a monitor issue so i used another one to find out what is causing the problem and no result. Now i was really pissed of because i didnt knew what to do, is it a hardware damage and the company is lying to me or maybe i am doing something wrong.

If you read my long post maybe you can help me.

Hello,

It sounds like the video card either has faulty RAM, a faulty GPU, is not receiving enough power or is overheating.

Given that you have replaced several hardware components, I would suggest looking into increasing the airflow inside the computer's chassis in order to move more of the waste heat out of the chassis. This will allow the components inside, including the video card, to run cooler.

Hmm, my graphic card has been tested by some geeks Laughing so we can eliminate RAM and GPU for now, when you mentioned power the company recommended me to buy TR2 W0101 550-Watt (is it enough for my system?), btw you can check this if you want too see if it is good enough TR2 W0101.
For overheating i am not sure but yes, i do have bad airflow in my case, it is very small and many people said i should get a bigger computer case and i am going to buy one. At the end, can you tell me which is the normal temperature for graphic card when it is not under full-power mode?

Thx for help. Wink

Hello,

Since I do not know the specs for your computer, it is hard to say for certain whether or not the Thermaltake TR2 W0101 550 Watt power supply will be adequate for all of the hardware in your computer.

One thing I would suggest, though, is that you look at replacing the case with a larger one, and make sure it has adequate cooling. Most mid-tower cases have mounting points for fans in the front and rear. You would want to install the fans so that they all blow in the same direction, pulling air in at the front of the case and exhausting it at the rear. This will ensure a continuous cool flow of air from outside the case across the hot components inside of it, which exit at the rear. Having fans that move the same amount of air (usually measured in cubic feet per minute, or CFM) will help ensure no pressure differentials occur that could cause heat to pool in a particular locations inside the chassis.

Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Processor:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory:
3582MB RAM
Hard Drive:
750 GB
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
Monitor:
SyncMaster 740 BF
Sound Card:
Realtek HD Audio output
Motherboard:
Gigabyte P965 DS4

And for the computer case i would like to buy this one Thermaltake .
I hope i have chosen a good one, so reply if i am wrong.

Hello,

I personally am not fond of cases with transparent side panels, but that is mainly because of the fact that the plastic does not provide any RF shielding like a metal case and tends to act as an insulator instead of helping to radiate heat away from the components on the inside, however, if that is the model you are happy with, I'm sure it will meet your needs. It would probably be a good idea to check with Thermaltake's technical support department, though, for a final opinion before purchase.
