| I am trying to use my laptop as a dvd player. I have a 32" LCD tv and have no problems getting the video from my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable. My problem is getting the sound from the laptop to the TV. I was under the mistaken impression that HDMI also transfered sound, but I guess that I was wrong. How do I get my sound to the TV?
My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv9260 that I bought at bestbuy.

| Perhaps there is a volume slider or a mute button governing the HDMI sound out in the control panel sound and audio applet.
I generally use the "line out" jack on my laptop for carrrying sound to my TV and that is another alternative for you.

Hello,
The specification for the Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv9260us Notebook states that a HDMI external port is on the device, so I am wondering if it just might be an issue with the notebook being set to use the internal speakers instead of outputting to the HDMI interface.
This is not a technology I am familiar with, but perhaps if you look in the settings for sound in the Control Panel there will be an option to use HDMI for audio output.
