Ok. I'm running an ASOS P48-MX MOBO motherboard with a Maxtor hard drive, over 100 gigs of space, probably closer to 120. It has Windows XP Pro on it, 1.99 GHz processor, and over a gig of RAM. With the Maxtor hard drive hooked up, I can't get past the "Windows did not start properly" screen. It won't even start from the XP CD. I called a local computer tech place, and all they could tell me is that it was a jumper problem. The BIOS recognizes that there is a hard drive there, just that it's not recognizing Windows on the hard drive. Any advise at all would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you.

Repair install of windows

Now you say that the computer won't boot from the CD. If you got into the BIOS and set the CD as the first boot device, then check the CD on another computer to be sure it is good.

Not sure about that.
Did you change anything in the computer? (hardware-wise)

Did this set-up work before, or is this a "new" set-up?
