Hmm ... major PC crash on XP machine has left me with no access to Outlook Express, and backups I (thought) I had are corrupted Evil or Very Mad . I CAN access the hard drive, so there is some hope ... can anyone please help out here, and tell me where I can locate files that will allow me to transfer my email, and particularly my multiple accounts informations so that I can transfer them onto a Vista PC, into either Outlook 2007, or Windows mail?
Thanks! Very Happy

HI!

Without being there, all I can tell you is that all those "folders" are not folders at all, but Something.dbx files. You can probably just do a search for them and then copy them to a CD, or flash drive.

Now, whether Vista will accept them, is something else.

Maybe someone who's already done it will weigh in here.....

good luck,

If you mount the XP drive as a slave in the Vista computer you might be able to recover your .dbx files by using the import function in either Outlook or Windows Mail.

FWIW.....

If you want to move/copy an address book from Outlook Express on an XP machine, to Windows Mail (the new Outlook Express) on a Vista machine, then you have to export the address book to some removable media, like a flash drive, in CSV format. Vista will NOT import a .wab file. It has to be a .csv file.
Go figure!
