MADISON, Wisconsin (AP) -- Wisconsin residents support a plan to legalize wild cat hunting, according to voting results released Tuesday.
At meetings across the state Monday night, residents in 72 counties were asked whether free-roaming cats should be listed as an unprotected species. If so listed, the cats -- including any domestic cat that isn't under the owner's direct control or any cat without a collar -- could be hunted. |
Isn't most cats in a town or near homes????
are they going to allow hunting in city limits???
are people nuts?? |

I am not a fan of cats but I don't believe they should be hunted as a sport.
B) It only took 15 minutes to post this.

| Hell, I like cats, but they (feral cats) can be very destructive to native wildlife. Without some means of population control they will overwhelm the available food supply, contract and spread disease, and suffer tremendously. I am not familiar with the problem in Wisconsin, I do know how stray pets appear around here. IMNSHO, anyone dumping a pet, regardless of species should be charged with a felony. |

| The problem is quite real in Wisconsin. My in-laws have to deal with them (the cats) all the time. |

What about animal control officers? Pick them up and out them down if need be. better than hunting them. Probably more safer to. especially in my neck of the neighborhood. |

| This would have opened the door to hunting dogs as well, and then who knows what? |
