Hello everyone, hope your day is going well.

I am trying to hook up these 2 - Linksys WVC54GC Wireless Cameras.

(wow linksys sure doesn't appear to be very user friendly products, and their staff sure isn't user friendly either)

These are the steps I have already taken .....

--------------------------------------------------

> I plug the power into the camera, and I wait for the front led to stop blinking
> I put in the set up cd, and ran the search for camera ... will not find the camera via wireless

---------------------------------------------------

> Pushed in reset button for 30 seconds
> I plug the lan cable in, then I plug the power in, and I wait for the front led to stop blinking
> I put in the set up cd, and ran the search for camera ... will not find the camera via wired

---------------------------------------------------

> Pushed in reset button for 30 seconds
> I plug the lan cable in, then I plug the power in, and I wait for the front led to stop blinking
> Opened browser and put in the ip for the camera http://192.168.1.115
> Page opens, but when I click on view video it doesn't show anything.

---------------------------------------------------

> Pushed in reset button for 30 seconds

> Installed the camera utility, and opened it.
> In the add camera, under the internet tab, I manually put in
name = mycamera
address = 192.168.1.115
port = 80
> Dragged the camera icon to the first screen
> It shows video in that screen (works in a sense I guess)

--------------------------------------------------------

I am needing these cameras to run wireless, if anyone could help, or have any input with this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

The router is a linksys WRT300N,
but I have tried the above steps on 2 other computers with 2 different routers (Siemens G and Belkin G) and the results are the same.

Thank You in advance for your time and help in this matter.

Have a good one.

Hello,

Do the computers have a firewall or other security software on them? If so, does temporarily disabling it allow you to manage a camera?

Regards,

What is the camera supposed to appear as when used wirelessly? as another computer? as a hub? The instructions should say. What operating system are you using? I know I have more issues connecting with Vista than I ever did using XP. Does the computer you are using connect to "hot spots" easily? Are you attempting to go camera to wireless router to computer, or camera to computer?

Thank You

I don't have this product, but I am going through the steps I might try if I did have this problem, so nothing I say is authoritative.

It seems to me the problem is likely in the camera-router link.

Is there any sort of setup function you can access when the camera is connected via cable? Maybe you have to activate the wireless function somehow.

Is there any signal that the camera gives (LED, beep, etc.) to indicate when it is talking to a router?

Is there any LED on the router to indicate if something is wirelessly connected to the router? If there is, I would close down all other wireless devices in the area, until the router indicates "no wireless connection". Then manipulate the camera until the router says "connected".

Is there a connector on the camera for an antenna? use one if there is.

I'll try to think up other experiments you might try.

OK, this is how I solved it. I figured seen how linksys is turning into another dell and won't support their own products, (without you paying extra that is), this is how to get it done.
I bought a new camera (exact same as the one I am working on) I then phoned linksys and gave them the serial number for the new camera
, (of course their lame warranty was in effect as I just bought it) I then went step by step with them on setting it up (as these cameras are NOT plug and play as they claim) but without telling them I was actually using the out of warranty camera when I had them explaining how to fix the problems.
after the camera got set up, I took the new camera back and got my money back.

The problem turned out to be within their own dns service
, so I signed up with DynDNS instead and the cameras work again.

Thanx to goretsky and bern for your time and help in trying to get this problem resolved.
