Dear Forum members I need some help, WMV files attached to E-Mails do not play. Message comes up saying " associated helper application does not exist "
I have been on the google search many times to find an answer but no luck. The answers to the problem direct me to Tools, preferences but I do not have the "Preferences" option available. Many many other help suggestions have not resolved the concern either. In Zone Alarm Pro I have set the program to allow these files to play on winamp. No Go. If I right click the attached WMV file and save it to my Hardrive it plays just fine. I am hoping that there must be a fix as many other people have the same problem according to the net. Power Point attachments also JPEGS open just fine. Thank you for reading my inquiry. Regards Peter

OS XP SP3, Thunderbird, Firefox, all the very latest releases.

Hello Peter,

In Thunderbird go tools and then click options and then attachments.
A box will open and half way down you will see a button labeled
download actions and right below it a button labeled View & Edit Actions click on it
in the box that opens select WMV and click on the change action button and then
browse and select the application you want to use.

Good luck it should be a piece of cake Laughing

Thank you pasquanel it worked. The problem was the attachment option only shows up if you do not have any E- Mails open. I always tried to work on it while I was reading what was sent. Regards Peter
