Quote:
For the first time in recent years, voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on all 10 key electoral issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports. The GOP holds double-digit advantages on five of them.
...

The numbers:
Code:
Issue               Democrats       Republicans
Health Care            40%             46%
Education               38%             43%
Social Security       37%             45%
Taxes                     35%             50%
Economy                35%             49%
Abortion                 35%             47%
Immigration             33%             40%
Nat'l Security          31%             54%
Iraq                         31%             50%
Gov't Ethics            29%             33%

This is pretty astounding, considering that prior to the election (June 2008 to be precise) the Democrats were ahead on all issues.

Amazing how quickly the Democrats disappointed their supporters.

O dear, those democrats....

CNN and Rasmussen polls have contradictory results
Quote:
Two important polls released today by CNN and Rasmussen reveal an apparent contradiction which could hold the key to the 2010 midterm elections. The CNN poll is potentially disastrous for the GOP while the Rasmussen poll gives a much brighter picture for Republicans.

First let us examine the CNN poll. CNN's poll reveals that only 36% of Americans have a favorable view of Republicans while 54% view them negatively. The low favorability for the GOP is its lowest in over a decade. Furthermore the numbers do not compare well with Democrats who have a favorability rating of 53% with 41% viewing them unfavorably.

I wonder why that could be.....
Quote:
So what explains the apparent contradiction? First the population polled differs dramatically. The CNN poll asked "adult Americans" for their views while the Rasmussen poll asked "likely voters" in their poll. The CNN poll therefore likely includes some "Americans" who are not going to be participating in the 2010 election. Furthermore depending on how much you trust Rasmussen's sampling formula their poll may leave out Democratic voters who trust Democrats more on the issues. For instance does the Rasmussen formula take into account the shrinking percentage of Americans who now call themselves Republican? The data accompanying the poll does not reveal the answer.

2010 elections will give us that answer.....

Before allowing too much credence - review the facts about "Rasmussen Reports".

I hope this does continue. Not because I trust Republican politicians any more than I trust Obama or the Democrat politicians, but because I don't trust either party to have 100% control. When that happens we get what we have now - the Democrats ramming things through regardless of what their constituents want.

I'm not worried about it and I don't need a poll to tell me to worry or not. Or a bunch of armchair consultants to tell me why the poll doesn't mean what it says it means.

History has consistently shown that the party in power loses seats in mid term elections. My personal opinion, no polling needed, is that because of the far left direction Obama has been taking this country many Americans including those that usually don't vote will do so this time around and we will see the Democratic majority dwindle by a significant number.
I also suspect we'll see plenty of shenanigans from the Obama camp prior to those elections in an attempt to sway the voters. Just the usual, trumped up achievements and false accusations. Typical politics with a little Chicago style politicking thrown in this time for good measure.
