Something is hijacking downloads on my son's computers. It won't let trendmicro or avg or spybot run. What's the best tool to clean the computer and how?

Please read this topic and try to follow the steps outlined. If any of them give you problems running them, delete them and download them again. But before you save them, rename them to some different name and then try running them again.

When ready, post your HijackThis log here after running through those scans.
