|
|
|
| I am running Fedora 7 & just installed VLC. When I run a video or audio (wav, FLV, AVI, wma or wmv) the sound "warbles" (best I can describe it) If I click stop & then play it again it runs fine. Anyone have any ideas on this? - Google was no help.
BTW: I DO have a lot of other players installed on here - by default - if there is one that is conflicting, which one?

| I had the same prob when playing a DVD under VLC - upping the buffers from 300 (arbitrarily!) to 1000 solved it: it may work in your case.. HTH!

| Thanks for reply - not sure if I understand where this setting is though. Please verify. |

Bit of a 'limited' answer, I'm afraid, as I only use it under Windows, but checked with a Linux user before I replied who assured me it behaves the same options-wise under either system..
In my case, when opening a disk from VLC Player, the buffers are defaulted to 300, which caused the stuttering you describe on audio (with a coincident 'hang' on video).
Raising the buffer level to 1000 cured both for me, although, as I mentioned, 1000 was a purely arbitrary level - it may work with much less.
Assuming the info I was given was accurate, the options dialogue box with the buffer settings opens automatically when you instruct VLC to open a disk.
Hope this is of some help. |

Since I'm running audio & video (such as AVI) from the HD I don't seem to get the "pop-up" you say. But I did find a place to set the buffer. Didn't help though. Also seems to be somewhat intermittent. When Fedora 9 comes out I plan to do a clean install. Maybe that will "fix" my problems.
Thanks anyway... |

That's OK, it ends up being a minor inconvenience anyway as I CAN at least run the stuff. That is more than I had to start with.
Again, Thanks
