My Canon SG1250 scanner was working OK on my HP media ctr a450n until I installed Nero 6, which wiped out ALL the apps I had installed on the D partition. I managed to get everything re-installed without losing anything (except my time, of course). Running XP pro SP3, 2GB RAM & plenty of HD space. Now the 'add scanner' wizard refuses to run. I've tried a repair install using the XP media, no change. Installed the scanner on another machine and it works fine. So far no help from MS websites or any other place I can think of. Tried re-installing scanner S/W several times, no help. Also failed to install a different scanner on same machine, same prob. I'm hoping to avoid having to re-install the OS onto a fresh partition. Any clues?

Clue one..... Nero 6 is awfully OLD to be used with 2010 OS's or software.

If you want to keep using Nero, I'd certainly update it to version 8 or better. I think version 10 is out now.
I paid $100 for my first copy of Nero, but I think it's a lot cheaper today.

There are even some FREE CD/DVD burning programs out there.
I've been using "ImgBurn" for all my ISO creation and burning. It's very fast, efficient and of course.....it's FREE.

Good Luck,

We have a couple of older Canon scanners at work. Installing them requires installing the supplied (or downloaded from their site) drivers/software first, *then* connecting the scanner to actually "install" the driver.

Hello,

Did you uninstall Ahead Nero Burning-ROM before reinstalling the software for the Canon SG1250 image scanner?

Like millions of other users, I too had Nero 6, years ago.
There came a time when it was no longer compatible with some other software I was running, so I upgraded to Nero 8. I found I needed to use a "Custom" install to keep it from installing all sorts of stuff that I don't need or want on my PC.

Even with a minimal install, it's loaded all sorts of app's that I won't use in a million years. But even with it's wrinkles and warts, it's still the best program I've ever used for compiling data disks or making Bootable CD's and DVD's.

Getting back to the question (installing the scanner) a thorough uninstall of Nero with, say, Revo uninstaller might help.
Assuming that it's too late to do a system restore to the pre Nero state - which would have been the best option.

Without a report back from the OP, I'm still wondering if this problem has been solved.
