Post subject: U3 vs Ceedo

Hi Everyone,
I have purchased a SanDisk Cruzer that came with U3 installed. I have also done a little research and found a product named Ceedo and installed it. What attracted me to Ceedo is the fact that it has a plugin available called Argo. Argo enables you to install virtually any software on the flash drive i.e., you are not restricted to just those that are "Ceedo ready". I've have used both and I am leaning towards Ceedo even though it must be purchased. I am curious as to your thoughts/experiences etc.
Thx in advance.
Regards,
RPrinceton

I'm a big Flash Drive user and have several SanDisk drives with U3.

I find the U3 to be a pain in the backside. I've removed it from several drives already.

I'll be interested to see where this thread goes and what can be done with Ceedo.
How much is Ceedo?

Hi TheShadow,
Ceedo is $29.95 and the add-on i.e. Argo which enables you to install virtually any program is $19.95.
They are available at Ceedo.com.

Here are some free apps, that can be installed on a flash drive. I've installed and use the portable suite. What software are you interested in installing on your flash drive?

duh, Embarassed alink would help! http://portableapps.com/
I sent a donation to the developer and he thanked me and also asked if there was any particular program I'd want for a flash drive.

Running Windows apps from a FD just isn't something I'm really into.

I do carry all my Tune UP apps and Utilities on my 2 gig PNY Flash Drive though. All I run from it are batch files, vb-scripts and .reg files, except for a few garbage removers like CWShredder, vCleaner and Program Install Apps, and such.
They all run just fine from the Flash Drive.

It even self boots for use with drives that are in FAT-32 mode.
I can do a full cleanup on the HD and run several AV and AS programs all from the FD. FAT-32 makes a tech's like so much easier. Wink Laughing Laughing

After showing this thread to my Software Guru, he downloaded the Trial of Ceedo and was able to put several programs on his flash drive.
He says it works equally well on ANY flash drive.

He installed "Spybot S&D" , "Photo Filter", "WinAmp", "Thunderbird and Firefox" , to his 2gig PNY Flash drive.

I guess you could call that a positive testimonial. Wink

According to my Guru friend, Argo creates a "Virtual Environment" for other apps to install and run on the flash drive. Since my last post on this subject, he's installed even more programs on his own FD, including Trojan Hunter.

This would be a great tech tool, , , to be able to run your malware scanning programs from a flash drive and not have to install them on clients' PC's to scan for viruses, spyware, etc.

He told me last night that he's up for buying the entire 3-program package, including Ceedo and Argo. I can't remember the name of the third program.

Looks like this might be a "Keeper".

Thanks RPrinceton for the heads-up. Wink

I have useed mojopac and prayaya v3 for a trial,i found that mjopac takes a long loading time, and prayaya v3 can not support enough software.

Post subject: U3 alternatives [Login to view extended thread Info.]

I am presently using U# drives and want to replace them with plain flash drive due to higher cost but still want to retain the features provided by U3.
I want to achieve Autolaunch of application residing on normal flash drive whenever it gets plugged to any computer running on Windows OS.

Please let me know the approach to be followed for this and any possible s/w available in market to achieve this.I tried ceedo but autorun is not enabled in it .I also used mojopac but it is very slow and alos don't have autorun.

The recommendation should be given keeping in mind that the USB can be plugged to any computer, hence whatever changes are to be made have to be at the flash drive end and not on OS side.

Cheers

I think the prayaya platform is the real future for more complex portable apps that need

the registry and other infrastructure that prayaya provides.
Without using Argo I have been able to make many apps install and work within prayaya, without installing a single file on the host platform. You can wait till Reg Rapper does that. I am sticking with prayaya.
