Re: the locked-up trojans Wink, if everything still works after a day or so, then the AVG Vault can be emptied. It's best to leave anything found in the Vault for a day or so, sometimes you might find that a certain web-site won't load or something.

If your system appears to be OK, then the Virus Vault can be emptied safely

If I ever put anything back that one of my Security Programs has removed, just shoot me. Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

When ever possible I tell all my programs to NOT Quarantine anything.
DELETE THE SUCKER!!!!
That's just like putting an aligator in your closet. If that sucker gets out of there, he'll ruin your day.

I've had a hard time getting that through to some of the programs so I just dump their Quarantine folder in my XPCleanup.bat program.

This little jewel takes care of the AVG virus vault.

deltree /y "C:\$VAULT$.AVG\*.*"

And this neat little 'one liner' takes care of the "undu" files created by "Reg Clean".

deltree /y "C:\Regclean\*.reg"

So with the proper application of a little DOS batch file, you can remain completely 'Crapola' FREE.

OH, I forgot to mention, that I put my XPCleanup.bat file in my Startup folder for a daily cleanup. It's like getting FREE Maid Service. Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing Laughing

Nuff Said.....

Y'all have a happy day now!

Security programs do have false positives - they try not to but it does happen. If you look in the forum for AVG, http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/
it may give an indication if what was tagged is a false positive or a real problem. I'm beta testing CounterSpy v2 and we report our false positives. The developers remove them from the list after we submit the logs and it can be determined that it is a false positive. We also had the chance to scan the computer and upload a log so they can develop a whitelist of safe products.
update after reading a paid newsletter I receive, it appears that this trojan may indeed be a false positive. Quarantine it but don't remove it.

A point that I guess I neglected to make is;

If you keep all your spyware blockers up to date and run your scans after each and every update, then you shouldn't have Spyware on your PC in the first place. Likewise with your AV program, Trojan remover, etc.

I do test a lot of anti-malware programs....and any program that starts giving me false positives, don't last very long.
I don't have the time for second rate software. Exclamation
