| Does anyone remember the 10th Amendment? Some seem to.

What's up with this?
We should have an automatic language converter for the forums. Or...maybe I don't want to know. |

Oben am jungen Rhein
lehnet sich Liechtenstein
An Alpenhöh'n.
Dies liebe Heimatland,
Das teure Vaterland,
hat Gottes weise Hand
für uns erseh'n. |

CLHenry,
Thanks, but I just found the translation of all the above to be jibberish. At least to me.
No offense to anyone. I'm sure there is a message here to someone and it does not include me.
Carry on, folks. |

It's not gibberish, it's idiomatic (I think that's the correct term).
The online translators don't do a very good job with things that are typed as they are spoken. This even happens if you're using a dictionary to translate. It's because of the use of sayings that don't translate literally (such as "kiss my butt" - you don't really want the person to kiss your butt - and there's an equivalent expression in German and it doesn't involve kissing anyone's anywhere). |

The right and the left appear to forget the tenth when it suits them. I admit to the libertarian view that government should not be in the business of marriage, except to witness contract, as it does with other contracts; it should not be in the sacrament biz. Mrs Cheney got it partly right, for the states, counties, or municipalities should not be in the marriage biz. It is a private, religious affair. Marriage belongs with the individuals involved, and their religious or social association. Since there is no amendment concerning it, it belongs to the - I prefer to skip to the individual.
The translation program is the brain. |
