'Animated and programmable LED tattoos connected to your brain?
You could show off your latest Flash animations,
watch TV on your arm, or have a built-in PDA screen.
...Professor Litt’s laboratory is a collaboration between Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroscience, and Engineering.
While epilepsy is the lab’s core focus, other research includes implantable neurodevices, functional neurosurgery, network and computational neuroscience, movement disorders,
intra-operative and ICU monitoring, major mental illness, and other brain network disorders.'

Infra-red helps find hidden tattoo

A new infra-red camera could help solve crimes by finding people's hidden tattoos, a university said.
Forensic scientists and detectives already look at tattoos as a way of identifying suspects or finding leads in investigations,
but criminals can easily have them changed or updated.
Scientists at the University of Derby said using an infra-red digital camera could help determine if a tattoo was an original,
or if it was a second tattoo covering the old one.

A traditional colour camera only picks up what is on the surface of the skin.
But using a digital camera sensitive to infra-red, researchers can see if there are hidden layers or changes to the original tattoo deeper in the skin.

...The technology that most fascinates visitors is a method for peering below the surface of a finished artwork and analyzing the various layers of paint it contains.
The technique, computerized infrared reflectoscopy, is based on the fact that some pigments that reflect light in the visible range (like cadmium red) are more or less transparent to infrared light.
By looking through these layers, art historians can catch glimpses of the artist's original handiwork: rough sketches, repaintings and the occasional erasure...
