Hey Guys and Gals.

Does anyone know of a downloadable TV program where a girl from Canada can watch ESPN2 so she can watch the NASCAR races?

We're not allowed to have certain U.S. stations here. Guess the government figures we wouldn't watch our stations if yours were available. They're probably right Very Happy

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

As far as I know, ESPN is a premium cable channel and I cannot think of a legal way to do what you are offering. Maybe they offer a pay-per-view service on their web site?

Try NASCAR's "Trackpass Raceview" and see it that meets you needs.

Click http://www.nascar.com/trackpass/about/raceview/ for 14-day free trial.

NASCAR is broadcast in the states on several networks including TNT and Fox.

Good luck

I use a program called "Pay-TV_Cable_Viewer". Just google it. Works well and am able to get loads of sports. It may get it for you, i don't know. And if what goretsky says is true, i don't know how legal any of these programs are.

Trackpass is just a driver monitoring program, doesn't actually show you the whole race. We get Fox but not TNT or ESPN2 which carry the races. We have a sports channel that calls itself "the home of NASCAR in Canada" but they don't have a frigging clue Evil or Very Mad And it doesn't matter how many nasty letters you write to them, they just ignore you.
Last night the Nationwide race was on at 7PM on ESPN2 and our STUPID station decided to show it a 3AM!!!!!!! Even though they weren't showing anything on the station that usually will carry the races. I HATE THEM!!!!!

Thanks for the input.

Putting the legal stuff aside & depending on whether you want it "real-time" or not ( & just how badly you DO want it) you could have someone stream it to you or record it & send the recording to you. (the latter would be MY preferred "less hassle" way)

I ruled out some other options based on that you probably live to far north. And you already mentioned some others. So I think these are the only options left (besides just forgetting about it)

Well I learn something new everyday. I didn't know that someone could stream me the race. Now I just need someone to do it! Very Happy

I only live about 90 miles northwest of the Buffalo N.Y. border crossing so we aren't that far North. I'm in southern Ontario only an hour from lake Erie. Don't know where you are.

Could you possibly get it via broadcast? - not sure if it even is as I'm not into this stuff.
This is one of the options I ruled out as I thought you'd be to far away from a US transmitter.

But like I said, you STILL have the legal stuff to contend with & I don't know what all you'd have to deal with there.

I am ONLY answering your technical question as posted. So hope you know how to get around the details.

TV is my constant companion, so if it don't work, I go into withdrawals. Wink

I use FTA satellite TV which gives me pretty good service, but when weather takes out the satellite, I revert back to an outside antenna.
When I moved here 20 years ago, I asked around and found out that I needed a Deep Fringe antenna with an amplifier to get the channels from Orlando. That's about 80 miles away.
With that setup, I was also getting local stations and stations from Tampa and Jacksonville (120 miles away).

Just in the last few months, I replaced that whole system, which was 20 years old and not giving me the best service. Now, if my satellite goes out, I just click over to the outside antenna and keep right on watching as many as 15 stations.

I'd think there would be several stations in a city the size of Buffalo. A good high gain antenna with an amplifier should do the trick.
A google search just gave up this info for the Buffalo area:

The following is a directory of television stations in the Buffalo, NY area.

* WKBW-TV 7. ABC. 7 Broadcast Plaza, Buffalo, NY 14202. 716-845-6100. Fax: 716-842-1855. Email: wkbwtv RemoveThis @wkbw.com.
* WNED-TV 17. PBS. 140 Lower Terrace Street, Buffalo, NY 14202. 716-845-7000
* WNLO-23. UPN.
* WNYB-26. TBN. 5775 Big Tree Road; Orchard Park, NY 14127. 716-662-2659. Fax: 716-667-2499.

* WUTV-29. Fox (the NASCAR channel)
* WNYO-49. WB.

I don't know if Radio Shack has stores in Canada, but they do have great TV antennas.

Good Luck,
Doc Cool
