Hey all. So I've got some problems with my comp. I've been fighting the gaobot virus for weeks, and I still don't know if I've gotten rid of that. There are like 40 processes running on my comp most of the time, and I'm kind of tired of it :0) If anyone can help me beat this thing down, I'd really appreciate it.

ultimastrike , hi and welcome :)

Those files below, did you install them and do they belong to "Burst Technology" ?

If not........

restart your computer into safe mode (press F8 repetedly at startup) and open Taskmanager(ctrl+alt+del) and terminate those processes:
C:\Program Files\burst\burst.exe
C:\Program Files\burst\btdownloadheadless.exe
C:\Program Files\burst\btdownloadheadless.exe
C:\Program Files\burst\btdownloadheadless.exe

Then navigate to the "Program Files" and move the "burst" folder to a temp location.

Also run HJT and checkmark thiose details, the click "fix checked":

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,Shellnext = http://www.sierrastudios.com/games/homewor.../c-support.html
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\System32\Userinit.exe
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {029CA12C-89C1-46a7-A3C7-82F2F98635CB} - C:\Program Files\Kontiki\bin\bh304181.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE

Now restart into normal mode and zip it and upload the temp folder you created here: http://www.lavahelp.com/submit/index.html

Alright, so I fixed those things and a few more that I got tips on from other forums. The burst thing is fine, it's something I have running sometimes, a variant of bittorrent. Here's the new log, do you see anything else I can remove:

Also, my comp will freeze at seemingly random times. I used the event viewer and these errors coincide with the freeze. Can anyone help me find what is causing this, and fix/disable it? When windows starts I get an error that says the service registry database is locked, if that helps.

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 8007041F from line 44 of d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

DCOM got error "The service database is locked. " attempting to start the service netman with arguments "" in order to run the server:

ultimastrike :)

I made a search for this on Google : BA126AE5-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E , many options came up .It seems that it could be just anything. From bad memory to dust in the cooler on the videocard. Wink
