| Everytime I get another Suse10.1 DVD I see another issue number. With each new issue number does that mean there are little fixes being made, and if so when do they expect 10.1 to be totally fixed. Im guess im looking for that final issue before I install 10.1

| I don't use SuSe so I couldn't tell you for sure. However I will point out that every OS -- be it Linux, MacOS, Windows, etc -- will never have all of their issues fixed. If you ever find an OS that doesn't give regular software updates... don't use it!

The change in issue number probably refers more to it having the latest updates of all the extra software included (Firefox, MPlayer etc). Each time a program is updated in the repository & they burn a DVD with the changes the issue number would also be changed to reflect that. Not 100% certain though. Of course, this will include some of the "essential" programs that come with the installation.
But that's the great thing about Linux - you don't have to wait years for updates. If someone reports a bug, it's usually fixed & ready for download within a relatively short time. |

I'm running 10.1 from a DVD I purchsed on-line. It really doesn't matter which disk you install from, as you can go to Yast and select "Update System" and get all the updates since your disk was pressed. You can also update individual applications from Yast.
In Linux, any version number should allow you to keep updated for that version. It's only when they release a upgrade ( for example from 10.0 to 10.1) that you'll need to either upgrade the entire distro or reinstall. |
