I downloaded Steptree last week, A really cool program . But I noticed taht it was showing a bunch of files taht I thought were lost from my hard drive a year ago when I suffered a nearly fatal system crash . At the time of the crash I did everything I could to recover these file but they were gone . The "Disk volume " was still the same, I just couldn't access them useing WinExplorer or Search . How is it that StepTree can see them, but Windows can't?

Hello,

My guess is that it found some old directory information that had not yet been overwritten on your computer. Unfortunately, it is likely that the data that file information was pointing to has long since been overwritten.
