I have somehow strange problem:
There is a small network of 4 computres:
Nr.1 IP 192.186.11.1
C partition: Win Me (needed because of some application)
D partition: WinXP SP2
Nr.2 IP 192.168.11.2
WinXP SP2
Nr.3 IP 192.168.11.3
Win Me
Nr.4 IP 192.168.11.4
WinXp SP2
Computer Nr.4 is recently added to a network and there is a problem: when computer Nr.1 is turned off
or the user (administrator) is not logged on, Nr.4 can`t see any other machine on the network, while on
the same time any other computer can connect to Nr.4 and to each other (file and printer sharing is on).
When user on Nr.1 is logged, Nr.4 can communicate with other computers except with Nr.1, but Nr.1 can
connect to Nr.4. When I pressed the repair button on Nr.4 (for repairing local area connection) Windows
returned me the following:
Windows could not finish repairing because the following action cannot be completed:
Clearing the ARP cache.
I have tried to make network setup disk on Nr.1 and use it on Nr.4, but after that network was inaccessible
for Nr.4 in any circumstance (but other machines can connect to Nr.4)
Any idea?
I have disabled firewalls on XP machines for LAN, tried to change IP numbers on Nr.4, changed the positions
of cables on the switch and cables between machines, but everything remained the same.
Maybe, I will have to reinstall WinXp on Nr.1?
Thanks,
Darko
