Slow start-up(Main description in Problem Solvers Forum)

I have a post in Problem Solvers under "Major Confusion...Please Help". Unfortunately I have tried all of the ideas offered to me in that forum and nothing seems to be working. Uninstall McAfee and restart your computer. See if that will speed things up.

Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

The thing is, I already uninstalled McAfee prior to running HijackThis and what has come up on the LogFile is the McAfee residue. How do I remove everything? I'm trying to run a search for the name McAfee but not much is coming up, so I can't delete anything. Is there a more specific removal tool I can use to get all the McAfee products hidden in my harddrive?

What version is McAfee? Try the suggestions here.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode (if you don't know how, go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=61 ). Make sure to close any internet browsers that may still be open.

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if found:

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

Ok, I think I cleaned everything McAfee out of my computer. But my startup is still running ridiculously slow. I ran a program called bootvis which gives you details on your start-up and tries to optimize the system and it said that total start-up lasted something like 280 seconds. Obviously that is abnormal. Boot into Safe Mode. Is it also taking a very long time there as well?

If it's slow in Safe Mode as well, it might be a hardware issue...
