A question about the Sims 2?!? I'm at a lose..

Ok... i added memory to my computer cause someone actually came down and looked at my pc. However, the game will not load. It plays the intro to the game and it even goes into the neighborhood. Once i creat a player or try to enter the home of a sim(s); the screen freezes and i'm stuck i'm out of options now cause i have everything on my computer that i need to play the game... Do you guys think that it is the game itself?? I'm lost on this one!
