including safe mode, but as for firmware update and PIO only mode. i have no idea how to do that

Go into device manager > click the + sign to expand the tree on DVD/CD-ROM drives > double click your DVD drive and it should give you the location. See picture 1.

Picture 1:

The Location for the device will either be 0 or 1.

Close that window > double click Primary IDE Channel > change the transfer mode of the corresponding device.

Location 0 = device 0 and location 1 = device 1. See picture 2.

Picture 2:

If the corresponding device is greyed out check the Secondary IDE Channel.

Okay, I have The Sims 2, Open For Business, Glamour Life expansion packs, I recently d/l the Pets & Seasons Torrents, I mounted the Pets and Seasons expansion packs with Deamon tools, I also d/l and installed NO Cd patches for Both. The Game will run through the opening sequence then if you mouse click or button click the game with freeze and a blank error message will appear with the headline The Sims 2, You hit the cancel button and the game terminates...whats the deal with that?

I have every expansion pack up to sims 2 glamour life. The game crashes every now and then due to a graphics error. I know how to solve it because i looked it up on Intel's website. It's the -w thing. But when I tried adding the -w to the game path it would not let me. I know what this does is force the game into starting up in a window. Zeus could you please tell me exactly how to do this. If it is long or complicated you can e-mail me at [email address removed]

Right click the sims 2 link > click properties > make a space at the very end of the target line and then type -w > click ok and you're done.

I put in the Glamour life shortcut because thats the shortcut that i start it up with. I thought I would not like the window, but it's actually out of the screen a little, so I like it. I will post again in a day or two and tell ya if the graphics error has stopped. It's my first time usind lockergnome and I have to say LOCKERGNOME ROCKS OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

UPDATE PROBLEM SOLVED
Moved the My Documents folder to the other drive.

Im new here but it looks like you guys really know your stuff... heh.

I am trying to install The Sims 2 and its expansions to another drive letter.

E: to be specific however the Sims 2 puts files on my C: drive as well... I was wondering if there was anyway to change where it stored the user data. My C: drive is only large enough for windows and a paging file.

Hope this isn't to complicated.

Just wanted to let ya know that the Sims 2 dosn't crash anymore. I have used it a lot and it hasnt happened once thanks again.

Greetings,

I'm having a problem with Sims 2 / Seasons randomly hanging for a few minutes. Game runs fine, then all of a sudden I get an hourglass that spins for several minutes, then game resumes on its own. Sometimes it turns into a blank screen with a blue background, after which I have to restart the computer to be able to play again. I'm playing in windowed mode because when I played in full screen mode, it locked up, and computer restarted itself.

Computer is new, Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz, with an Intel mobo, Asus geforce 7600 512 Mb graphics, SATA II 250 Gb hard drive with 16 mb cache. When the game runs, it's fine, except for the occasional issues listed above. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the latest drivers installed?
Have you tried downgrading your Nvidia drivers to 84.21?

I'm pretty sure I have the latest... you think downgrading the driver would help? I usually see people saying that you should try to find the latest driver possible, so I didn't think going back would be a better idea. Think I should try?

You're probably using the 9X.XX series of drivers. These drivers are known to cause loads of different problems including crashes, blue screens, texture corruption etc etc.

It's worth at least a try.

hi im new
when i double click on the sims it loads until it gets to the choose your village
then it says
the application has crashed
windows will now terminate it

ZEUS GB,

I have The sims 2, University, Family Fun stuff, Nightlife, Open for business and glamour life. Ever since i loaded Glamour life my Sims 2 crashes! It won't open community lots and when i make new families it won't return to the neighbohood, it will just crash!

I have tried the -w thing but it still crashes!

HELP!!!!!! Crying or Very sad
