| Have you tried running system restore to restore Windows back to a time before the problem started? Please note that applications installed recently may need to be reinstalled if you restore Windows back to a time before they were installed. |

| Not necessarily. I don't think any big company like MSi is going to update drivers on someones machine. Get the machine in and get in back out again as soon as possible. Had it come to me then i'd would have updated the drivers. |

I came across this site, and i see people getting their problems solved so i decided to join to see if you could help.
Well i am able to fully install Sims 2 perfectly and i already have downloaded direct x and the latest drivers for my graphics card i did the test on dxdiag of direct draw and the other test i see the things it tellms me and it works fine.
after installation i try running the Sims 2 deluxe and an error message comes up
which is:
"Failed to enumerate any DirectX 9 compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9 compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest manufacturer provided driver. The application will now terminate ..."
I read in the archive thread that you had to install the update patch i downloaded both cd and dvd patch just incase i had the wrong one and they both give the message that
that it is an up to date version.

Hello seifullaah73 and welcome to Lockergnome!
First thing i'd try would be to upgrade the graphics card drivers from the Intel website.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=797
However looking at your spec the game isn't going to run very well because you're running a PC that's on the minimum specification required. If your running Windows XP then you're below the required specification because you only have 128MB RAM. |

I am running XP
so it will not work because of XP and why?
I will try downloading the graphics drivers from the website you provided
here is the requirements for the game i got from thesims2.ea.com
If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM then you need at least:
800 MHz processor or better
256 MB RAM if Windows Vista, XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space
If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) then you need at least:
2.0 GHz processor or better
256 MB RAM if Windows Vista, XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space
so if i increase the speed to 256mb then download the driver then it should meet the requirements and work?
Where it says needs a 2ghz processor, is this the speed of the processor or what, and is there a way of increasing this in my computer.
e.g if i have 800mhz processor can i increase it to 2.0ghz or increase it in anyway?
will get back to you soon |

The game requires 256MB RAM to run with Windows XP and you only have 128MB. When using an Intel graphics card is recommends a 2.0GHz processor and you have 733MHz (that's roughly 0.73GHz. People have gotten away with the processor speed but it's very slow.
To get the game to work reasonably well you'd have to upgrade your RAM, motherboard and processor at the very least. Upgrading this PC is not economically viable you'd be wasting your money, buying a new PC would be a much better option in my opinion. |

Hi guys, I'm new here. I was wondering if you could possibly help me with some of my problems, Zeus?
Ijust got The Sims 2 ( albeit, I bought some while leaving out a few - I didn't get University, Seasons, and Bon Voyage ) and thenI went off to install them. Everything went fine here, so nothing much to report. But then when I loaded Free Time, the game crashed and a pop-up appeared saying, "Application has crashed. Click OK to terminate the application." or something like that. This happened after I clicked any button during the opening video/movie was playing. I tried deleting the groups.cache and accesory.cache like some other websites suggested, but still no luck. Do you have any idea as to why this happens and if there is anything I could do about it before reinstalling everything? |

Hello chaotic-control and welcome to Lockergnome!
Your graphics card is DirectX 9 compatible and DirectX 10 is backward compatible with DirectX 9.
Has the game ever worked? If it has try a system restore back to that time. Another thing worth trying is uninstalling Sims2 plus expansions and adding them one at a time testing each as you go. |

Hello Danieo and welcome to Lockergnome!
Do the DirectX diagnostics tests pass OK?
Does DirectX Daigs report any problems on the DirectX files tab? |

Hey Zeus thanks for replying so fast!
Here's what I did..
-I ran a DirectX Diagnostics test
-I found that I'm running DirectX 10
-The DirectX "files" tab never showed up,
-The only tabs that shows up were...
System, Display, Sound 1, Sound 2, Input.
-"No Problems found" on each of those pages.
Did I run the test incorrectly that the "files" tab didn't show? [/img]Help? lol |
