The Sims 2 DirectX 9.0c Graphics Error

Hello everyone, I know that you must be sick of this error but I don't understand why I'm getting it and EA Support were no help at all.

I get the error message "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! ..." I'm sure you all know the rest.

I'm running Windows Vista with DirectX version 10. My graphic drivers are the latest.

My system specs:

Graphics: HIS ATI Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB Turbo DDR3
This is a newish graphics card, which is DirectX 10 compatible.

Processor: Dual Core Intel 3.4Ghz x 2: Total: 6.8Ghz
RAM: 2GB DDR2
HHD: 80GB SATA2 | 80GB SATA | 200GB SATA : 3 HHD in my system, windows is running on SATA2

I've also tried to run The Sims 2 on Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005 and still comes up with the same error.

The Sims 2 is the only game that I've tried so far that hasn't worked with this graphics card. Any help will be great! Hope I've provided enough info here.

First press start on your computer and click run and in the box type dxdiag. Then in the window that pops up click display. At the botton there are 3 programs with either enabled, disabled, or not available. Next to Direct3D Acceleration I am guessing it says not available. If it says disabled just enable it. If it says enabled and it doesn't work I don't believe I can help. Now if it does say not available you will have to download DirectX 9.0c at this website: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9226a611-62fe...61-aba1 Verify your type of internet connection and click continue and verify it again and click download. Now how you download it is very important! Do not press open you have to save it! Make sure you save it on our desktop! YOU CANNOT SAVE IT ANYWHERE ELSE! After it is downloaded on your desktop minamize the internet to your desktop and you will see its icon. Double click it to run it and follow what it says. After that is done restart your computer and go back to pressing start, run, dxdiag and see if its there now and enabled and try playing Sims 2 now!
