Sims 2 Blank Error Dialog Box

Hey everyone:

I installed the Sims 2 game and everything went okay with the installation. Now when I turn on the game the animation intro goes fine and then a blank error dialog box pops up and all it has in it is a Ok. And when I press Ok the Sims closes down and it returns to my desktop. Could someone tell me what I should do and what could be the problem? The help would be greatly appreciated.
