PostPosted: Thu Jun 11, 2009 7:22 am    Post subject: Search Engine Hijacked

I've run a variety of different programs, each picking up different traces of malware and whatnot... SpyBot S&D, Trojan Hunter, MalwareBytes, but none have completely fixed the problem. The problem being, all my search engine results are being redirected to random ad sites. (Some results go straight to where they're supposed to go, most get redirected.)

EDIT_
After running MalwareBytes and deleting the infections, the search engine results seem to work fine for two or three searches, then the redirects come back.

Seems to manifest itself out of nowhere after I scan and delete and reboot.

EDIT_
Never mind, Malwarebyte doesn't delete it on reboot. I thought it did and it would come back, but it has always been there, never deleted. I can't delete the .dll either.

I ended up formatting because I couldn't find a solution.

Thanks anyway.

Welcome to Lockergnome.

Sorry for the late reply. Been having internet issues lately.

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

I will lock this topic since the issue is resolved by formatting the computer.
